Born in Auckland in 1895, Ivy Copeland studied at the University of Auckland Elam School of Fine Arts. A painter and teacher she taught at Canterbury School of Art in the 1930s and then at Dunedin Teachers College. Painting in oil and watercolour she produced life size portraits, still life and alandscapes and exhibited at a regional level throughout her teaching career. After retiring from teaching in 1940 she returned to Auckland.
