Born in Bluff, New Zealand 1954, Geoff Dixon studied studied graphic design at Christchurch Technical Institute in 1974-75. In 1997 he was the Art Foundation's Artist-in-Residence in Southland, and the Art Centre of Christchurch's Artist-in-Residence in 2007-8. A painter and sculptor he has lived mostly in Australia since 1980 and been based in Cairns. In 2019 his artwork was featured in ARTNOW FNQ 2019, Cairns Art Gallery’s biennial exhibition.
