Born in 1914 at Hermannsburg near Alice Springs, Australian Aboriginal artist Otto Pareroultja was a member of the Arunta tribe, and the elder brother of Edwin and Reuben, both artists. Like the other Hermannsburg artists, he painted the central Australian landscape in watercolour in an impressionist manner, but his use of circles and lines is reminiscent of primitive Aboriginal art forms.

Otto Pareroultja is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1969 of 589, of which 441 (75%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $84,000 for Central Australian Landscape 1950s sold by Sotheby's in July 2006. This year 3 works have been offered for sale. Works by Otto Pareroultja are held by the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and a further four major public national galleries (see list below).
