A New Zealand artist, Arthur Thompson studied at University of Auckland Elam School School of Art from 1928 to 1933. Best known for his work in the film industry and later in advertising. In the 1950s he worked for Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), the forerunner of Air New Zealand designing travel posters enticing travllers to destinations throughout the Pacific. He also exhibited with the Auckland Society of Artists. He also had successful career as a costume and set designer for film and television in the 1960s.
