Born in Melbourne in 1953, printmaker and painter Lynne Boyd completed studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1984, and a Master of Fine Arts at Monash University in 2004. She later lectured at the VCA, RMIT, Monash and La Trobe Universities. She lived and worked in Melbourne her entire life, with all her adult years within easy reach of Port Phillip Bay. She began exhibiting her paintings of the Bay in the mid-1980s (at Arden Street Gallery in Melbourne) and variations on this subject remained the core of her practice thereafter. She died in Kyneton, Victoria on April 20, 2022.
