Born in Creswick, Victoria in 1887, Ruby Lindsay was a sister of Percy, Lionel, Norman and Daryl Lindsay. She studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne, and later married the cartoonist, Will Dyson and travelled to London with him in 1910. A painter and illustrator, she is best known for her art nouveau style drawings.
The total number of works by Ruby Lindsay offered for sale by auction since 1972 is 43, of which 31 (72%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,302 for 'Wholesale - a Hint to the Divorce Commission' sold by Leski Auctions Pty. Ltd in November 2021. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Ruby Lindsay are held by the Art Gallery of NSW, National Gallery of Victoria and a further three major public national galleries (see list below).
