Born in Melbourne in 1947 Criss Canning studied at Swinburne Technical College and under Max Middleton. A painter of colourful graphic style, she had her first solo exhibition in Victoria in 1982 and since then has exhibited regularly in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in both solo and group exhibitions. In 2007 major retrospectives of her work were held at Ballarat Regional Gallery and Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.
