Born in Sydney in 1930, John Hingerty studied at Hurstville and Kogarah Technical Colleges and at the Australian Watercolour Institute. After a career in management and design in the fashion footwear industry he became a professional artist in 1972. He prefers to work in oil, however he also utilises watercolour, acrylics and pastel. A traditional landscape, marine and cityscape, floral and still life painter, from 1976 he has held 10 exhibitions Sydney. He is a past president of the St George Art Society.
