About George William Carrington
Born in England in 1855, George Carrington was tutored by his father, G. W. Carrington who was a painter and architect. He arrived in New Zealand and became a teacher at Otago. Carrington painted mainly in oils and exhibited in Dunedin from 1882 and Christchurch 1906-07.
We have records of art auction sales by George Carrington from 1994 and in total 44 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 34 (77%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,695 for Extensive Scene, Port Chalmers' sold by Cordy's in February 2017.
