Born in Port Macquarie, New South Wales in 1959, Louise Forthun moved to Melbourne with her family in the late 1970s. She attended RMIT and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts (Painting) and 1987 tshe was awarded a Graduate Diploma (Painting) from the Victorian College of the Arts. In 2000 she received her Master of Arts (Painting) from RMIT, Melbourne. An abstract painter she had her first solo show in Melbourne in 1985 and since then has held further solo shows and contributed to numerous group exhibitions. Her work was included in the Moet & Chandon Touring Exhibitions of 1989 and 1990.
