Born in 1936, Australian Aboriginal artist Basil Rantji is a member of the Arunta school of Aboriginal watercolour artists. A nephew of Albert Namatjira, he was taught to paint in the style of the watercolour artists of The Hermannsburg School in Central Australia by Albert whilst still a child.

The total number of works by Basil Rantji offered for sale by auction since 1984 is 143, of which 89 (62%) were sold. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Basil Rantji are held by the National Gallery of Australia.
