Born in Birmingham, England in 1954, Paul Higgs completed the Foundation Art Course at Sutton Coldfield College of Art, UK in 1974 and the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Paintings) at the Winchester School of Art, UK from 1975 to 1977 prior to his arrival in Australia in 1977. He also embarked on overseas travel study tours in the 1980's. An abstract painter he has held about 20 solo exhibitions from 1980 in Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong and has participated and has participated in almost 40 group exhibitions. He has also taught at secondary and tertiary level over various periods from 1978 to 2008.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,880 for Untitled sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in March 2004. This year one work has been offered for sale.
