Born in 1869, Ghee was a follower of the Heidelberg School of impressionism, having studied at the National Gallery School under Frederick McCubbin and others from 1889 to 1892. He first exhibited with the Victorian Artist's Society in 1895, followed by a further 40 exhibitions with the Society during his career. A restrospective of his work was held at the Old Treasury Building in Melbourne in 1995. He painted almost solely in oils, his pictures generally restrained, sometimes in sombre colours.
