Born in New South Wales in 1958, Brett Colquhoun studied at the Swinburne Technical College, Melbourne where he was awarded a Diploma in Graphic art. A contemporary painter, mainly in mixed media, he held the first of many one man shows in Melbourne in 1982, and Sydney in 1985, and has shown at 22 solo shows since then, mostly in Melbourne and a similar number of group exhibitions.He was awarded a Visual Arts/Craft Award by the Australia Council in 1996 Arts and a Professional Development Grant by Arts Victoria in 2002.
We have records of art auction sales by Brett Colquhoun from 1991 and in total 16 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 12 (75%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $3,840 for Still sold by Sotheby's in September 2002. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2016. Works by Brett Colquhoun are held by the Monash University Museum of Art, National Gallery of Australia and a further two major public national galleries (see list below).
