Born in New South Wales in 1958, Brett Colquhoun studied at the Swinburne Technical College, Melbourne where he was awarded a Diploma in Graphic art. A contemporary painter, mainly in mixed media, he held the first of many one man shows in Melbourne in 1982, and Sydney in 1985, and has shown at 22 solo shows since then, mostly in Melbourne and a similar number of group exhibitions.He was awarded a Visual Arts/Craft Award by the Australia Council in 1996 Arts and a Professional Development Grant by Arts Victoria in 2002.
