Born in Leeds, England in 1906 Alex Poignant arrived in Australia in 1926. A photographer and camerman he is remembered for his photographs of noted Australians. He was the film cameraman on the film "The Overlanders". He was one of the most influential photographers in Australia of this time. A biographic exhibition of his early life in Perth, Western Australia was held in 2011.
