A traditional painter in the style of the Victorian era, Anita Newman was born in the UK in 1946. She studied under private tutors including Newton Hedstrom from 1969-73 and undertook a Chinese brush painting course in 1975. She has held numerous exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne.
