About George Podmore
Born in England in 1829, Podmore was a retired sea captain and lived in Mosman in the late 19th century. He worked for the New South Wales Fisheries Commission, painting many seascapes and fish studies while in this position. He was a competent portrait painter, and also taught painting for a short period.
