Born in 1871, Mabel Hookey, known as artist, writer and farmer, spent most of her life in Tasmania. She was a member of the Tasmanian Art Society and author of 'The Romance of Tasmania\. A number of her works are in the collection of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery Hobart.
