Jack Courier was born in 1915 in Elwood studied at the George Bell School 1942 to 1946. he went to Europe in 1950 and studied at the Slade School in London from 1952 to 1954, returning to Melbourne in 1956, after which he taught art at secondary level until 1974. He set up the printmaking department at Prahran Technical School and was also an instructor at Caulfield Institute, now Monash University Faculty of Art. He exhibited in many solo and group shows.
