Born in Victoria in 1927, Millar has had no formal art training. He is known as a painter, teacher and writer. He has held several successful one-man exhibitions of abstract art in Victoria. He has worked as an art critic for 'The Australian' and has had articles published in several major publications. Millar is the author of 'A Biography of John Brack' and 'Civilized Magic' a guide to Australian paintings.
