Born in 1880, George Hamilton Hammon was active in Sydney at the end of the 19th century and he is best known for his watercolours of Sydney Harbour during that time. In 1905 he left Australia, travelling first to new Zealand where he painted landscapes of New Zealand scenery. After that he is believed to have travelled to the USA and is recorded as being in San Diego, in the USA in 1918. He died, most likely in the USA, in 1960.
