Born in Melbourne in 1898, McCann studied at the Melbourne National Gallery and in Europe. He was a landscapist, much of his work featuring the Dandenongs and Yarra Valley areas. McCann was awarded the Dunlop Prize in 1951. His works are represented in Victorian provincial galleries and in private collections in Australia.
