Born in 1854 in England, George Reynolds studied art in Birmingham and London, and taught at Wolverhampton before his arrival in Australia in 1886. A painter, woodcarver and etcher, he is said to have introduced etching into South Australia. Reynolds taught in Victoria until 1905, then moved to South Australia where he taught at Mount Gambier until 1935.
