Born in Sydney in 1893, Myra Cocks studied at the Julian Ashton Art School, and exhibited her paintings and drawings alongside works by artists such as Grace Crowley. In 1925 she travelled extensively through England, Europe and the United States of America, returning to Sydney in 1931. Here she taught children at her studio and gave public lectures at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
