About Leon Van Den Eijkel
Born in the Netherlands in 1940, artist Leon Van der Eijkel arrived in New Zealand in 1986 after studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the Hague from 1958 to 1963. He produces light boxes, sculptures, paintings and multimedia installations and has exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, and New Zealand.
The total number of works by Leon Van Den Eijkel offered for sale by auction since 1995 is 57, of which 23 (40%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $4,671 for Hidden Square C-022, from Hidden Square Series 2002 (2) sold by Webb's in April 2005. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
