Sculptor Robert Bridgewater was born in Victoria in 1971. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art from Monash University in 1992 and a Graduate Diploma of Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1995. At Monash University he won the National Gallery of Victoria Trustees Award and the Victorian College of the Arts Post Graduate Encouragement Award in 1994. In 1995 he won the Kangaroo Sculpture Award, was a finalist in the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award in 2001, 2003 and 2005, and also a finalist in the McClelland Sculpture Survey and Award in 2010. mainly sculting in timber, he has held 8 solo exhibitions in Melbourne since 1996 and completed a number of commissioned works for public spaces in Melbourne Sydney and Perth and several private commissions. He currently lives and works in Melbourne.
