Born in Glenelg, South Australia in 1926 Geoffrey Brown studied at the South Australian School of Art and travelled to London and Paris after World War II. On his return to Adelaide that he took up printmaking. He held numerous solo exhibitions from 1953 to 1991 in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and since 2000, in Melbourne. His works are extensively exhibited in state and regional collections.
We have records of art auction sales by Geoffrey Brown from 1975 and in total 49 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 31 (63%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $6,029 for Drinking Tap - Toledo Spain 1953 sold by Amanda Addams Auctions in April 2006. This year one work has been offered for sale. Works by Geoffrey Brown are held by the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia and a further four major public national galleries (see list below).
