John Dudley was born in Shanghai, China in 1931 and came to Australia during World War II. Known for his oil and watercolour landscapes, Dudley painted in Victoria and outback Australia and was a member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society. During his career he was also a Naval Officer, Oriental linguist and international broadcaster with Radio Australia.
The total number of works by John Dudley offered for sale by auction since 1975 is 58, of which 41 (71%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,800 for Government House from the Botanical Gardens, Melbourne c. 1950 sold by Deutscher~Menzies in September 2005. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022.
