Born in the United Kingdom in 1947, Geoffrey Dupree arrived in Australia in 1955. He returned to London to study art for some years during the 1970s, and held his first solo exhibition of paintings in Melbourne in 1979. In the same year Dupree began a teaching career in Victorian tertiary institutions.
