Born in 1906, Norma Bull was a painter, etcher and arts administrator. She studied at the National Gallery School and in London, where she became an accredited Australian war artist during World War II. About 200 etchings and paintings of war torn Britain were exhibited at Australia House in 1947. Bull returned to Australia after the War and for twelve months followed Wirth's Circus around, painting circus scenes and people. She then settled in Victoria, painting landscapes and seascapes.
The total number of works by Norma Bull offered for sale by auction since 1978 is 97, of which 79 (81%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,200 for Seascape sold by E. J. Ainger Pty.Ltd. in August 2010. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Norma Bull are held by the National Gallery of Australia, Ian Potter Museum of Art and a further three major public national galleries (see list below).
