Born in England in 1892, C. Winifred Honey moved with her family to Melbourne. She studied at the National Gallery School, winning several prizes for her portraits. In 1911 she won the National Gallery of Victoria travelling scholarship, and went to London to study. She exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1929. In the 1930s she worked as a commercial artist, rarely exhibiting. Honey died after an accident in London never having returned to Australia.
