Born at Mt. Lawley, Western Australia. An etcher and commercial artist, Platt studied at the Royal Art Society of New South Wales under Sydney Long. He made a tour of all the Australian states from 1932 to 1938 and produced etchings of most of the leading private and pubhc secondary schools He is also known for his illustrations of tropical plants in the Sydney Botanical Gardens and etchings of scenes around Centennial Park.
