About William Constable
Born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1906, Constable studied at the National Gallery School. In 1928 he left for London where he studied at St Martin's School of Art. He returned to Australia in 1934 and became a theatrical designer, and designed many sets, including those for John Antill's 'Corroboree' before going London in 1955 where he continued his career.
