Marina Strocchi was born in 1961 and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts from Swinburne University in 1982. In the mid 1980s she studied language in Paris and the Pintupi/Luritja language in Alice Springs. In the 1990's she was associated with the ROAR collective based in Fitzroy. She was the founding co-ordinator of the Ikuntji Art Centre from 1992 to 1997 and has also mentored at art centres in the Northern Territory. She has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane since 1995 and overseas in the USA and Europe. In 2010 Marina Strocchi was a finalist in the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. In 2019 she was awarded a $50,000 Northern Territory Arts Fellowship, which enabled her to undertake a sustained period of professional development in New York.
