Beatrice (Betty) Ritchie served in the WAAF during World War II, and her illustrations appeared in several military books. She was a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize and the Wynne Prize in 1944, and the 'Australia at War' exhibition in 1945.
