About Louis James
Born in South Australia in 1920, James worked as a draughtsman with the South Australian Lands Department in Adelaide. Although he had no formal art training, he began painting after World War II and quickly acquired a wide reputation in Australia and London where he moved in 1949 where he lived for the next 15 years. On moving back to Australia, he had many successful solo exhibitions.
