About Ritva Voutila
Ritva Voutila was born in Nokia, Finland in 1946. After finishing high school she studied art at the School of Art and Design in Helsinki. In 1968 she moved to Australia, and then to Spain in 1971, worked in a variety of jobs while continuing drawing and painting In 1981 she moved back to Australia, settling down in Sydney and in 1983 she became a full time artist working freelance in jewellery design, graphic design and advertising. She illustrated her first children's book, 101 Excuses for Not Doing Homework in 1990 and many other books followed. Her illustrations have also appeared regularly in magazines, book covers, and advertising posters and billboards and she is also an accomplished school presenter/performer. She now live and works in Ballarat, Victoria.
