Born 24 May 1913 in Te Kuiti, John Snadden served in the artillery during World War II and recieved a Military Cross for his part in the Battle of Crete. Post war he worked in advertising and film production and latterly taught art at secondary school level and in private classes. He returned to Crete after World War II and many of his works depict Greece. He painted and exhibited with, among others, Don Peebles, John Drawbridge, Melvyn Day, Brian Carmody. John
