Ante Dabro was born on 13 January 1938, in Croatia and completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Academy of Fine Art in Zagreb before moving to Australia in the late 1960s. The artist/sculptor and art teacher has lived and worked in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory since then. Ante Dabro was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1982 and spent time at Princeton University and the Herman Noack foundry in Berlin learning advanced sculptural techniques. Dabro's sculptures are typified by angular form; many are nudes and bronzes. He is currently sponsored by Terry Snow, owner of the Canberra Airport where he has a studio, and many of his life size and larger sculptures are located in the Brindabella Business Park at Canberra Airport. A further two works at at the Australian National University.

Since 1970 we have recorded only one work being sold at auction by this artist, which was in 2002.
