Born in the UK in 1882, Harry Marriott-Burton began work at age 14 mixing ink for a printer. As a teenager he was an illustrator for "Wide World Magazine". A painter in oils and watercolours, he travelled extensively, moving to Canada at the age of 22, and to South Africa in 1935 where he painted portraits on commission.
