About Michael Cartwright
Michael Cartwright immigrated to Australia from England with his family in 1966 aged 11. He was greatly influenced by his father, and they painted together for many years. He was inspired by painters of the Heidelberg School, particularly Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin and Arthur Streeton, and prefers the outdoors ''plein air'' method an essential part of the learning process. He paints a wide range of subjects, but specialises in landscapes, both traditional and whimsical, with a strong representation of local historical themes based around the south coast scenery of Western Australia. He has been painting professionally for 25 years and has won numerous awards.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $8,527 for The Mask 2002 sold by Leonard Joel in November 2018.
