Born in Sydney in 1930, Bettina McMahon studied at the Julian Ashton School from 1946 to 1949, at Goldsmith College, London University in 1972 where she studied Advanced Etching. After returning to Australia she taught etching at community level from 1976 to 1982. She is a painter and printmaker, her work abstract with a geometric pattern and she exhibited in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and overseas in Sweden, Gemany, the UK and the USA . She won a number of prizes at art shows in New South Wales and was awarded residencies in Paris in 1982 and 1987.
