Born in Wanganui, New Zealand in 1952 Margaret Elliot studied at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts from 1973 to 1976. A contemporary landscape painter working mainly in oil and acrylics. She lives and works on the south coast of Wellington.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,121 for Approach to Fox Glacier sold by Webb's in May 2008.
