Born in Western Australia in 1951, Ashley Jones studied in for a certificate of Graphic design at Perth Technical College in 1971 and a Diploma of fine Art at Claremont School of Art in 1973. Perth and overseas. A painter, printmaker and teacher, Jones' photo-realist work has been widely exhibited including in about 6 solo exhibitions since 1975, of which two wer at the Fremantly Arts centre. In 1987, with his wife he opened Gunyulgup Galleries in the Margaret River Wine Region of Western Australia.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $11,045 for On the Edge - Red Chair 1978 sold by Leonard Joel in February 2022.
