Born in England in 1788, Henry Allport studied in London under John Glover and became a member of the Old Watercolour Society. He arrived in Australia in 1839 as an agent steward for Macarthur in Sydney.
We have records of art auction sales by Henry Allport from 1977 and in total 27 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 10 (37%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $420,000 for Corroboree, Lake Macquarie sold by Sotheby's in April 2008.
