Watercolourist and craftworker Winifred Betts was born c 1875. Working in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, aged 17 she exhibited her student work at the Sydney Exhibition of Woman's Work in 1892. In 1978 the Art Gallery of New South Wales featured her pokerwork vase from 1923 in its Cicadas and Gumnuts exhibition. Her watercolours mainly feature streetscapes in the Sydney environs. Lawson's Auctions, Sydney sold 36 of her works in a single auction sale in July 1988.
