Born in Victoria in 1923, Dacre Smith is a landscape and marine artist. A retired naval officer, was mostly self taught and painted during his service in the navy. He retired from the navy in 1978 to become a full time artist. He has exhibited in Melbourne and published 14 books of containing his paintings of historical ships, bridges and lighthouses of Victoria and poems.
