Born in Sydney in 1947, Ian Howard studied extensively in Sydney, London and Canada. A multi-media artist and teacher, he often uses domestic objects against a background of military references to create images of 'theatre of war in the home'. Howard has exhibited in most capital cities, his first solo exhibition being in Sydney in 1968. He has taught at secondary and tertiary level. His work is represented in several state galleries and museums of contemporary art in Brisbane and Montreal, Canada.
