Born in Murwillumbah, New South Wales in 1938, Madonna Staunton studied in Brisbane under Roy Churcher, Jon Molvig and Bronwyn Yeates. A painter who used collage in her work, she exhibited in Brisbane from 1976 to 1976 and also in Sydney and Melboure over this period. In the 1996 Australian Day Honours she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for "service to the visual arts". Staunton's work is represented in the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, the Queensland Art Gallery and institutional collections.
