Born in Melbourne in 1899, Theo Scharf moved to Germany with his parents early last century. He studied in Bulgaria c1914 and and in Munich form 1916 to 1924. became Professor of Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He exhibited in Melbourne in 1914 and also returned to Australia for in 1950, where he exhibited at the Contemporary Art Society, lectured to art classes at the Council of Adult Education and Box Hill Technical College. He returned to Munich in 1956.
